Thadeus

Governor X.I.V. Thadeus was, in all accounts, a rather unfortunate statesman and above all a clueless military leader when confronted with such events as the Lightness War.

Mr. Thadeus, a natural human from some colony closer to Earth had been elected as the governor of the Gigerdian backwater colony world of Comosol IV: his administration was known as downright ludicrous with the annual budgets, which were more or less spent on "human historical architectual projects". One of these projects included the construction of a vast castle constructed in human 16th century architecture, which Thadeus himself inhabited.

All of this changed, however, when first reports of the Lightness and their fleets started to roll in: Thadeus was rather annoyed that such news disturbed his daily Banquets with various diplomatical envoys. Thus he refused to declare a state of emergency and just told the citizens of the colony to "eat cake" in manner similar to that of a certain human historical figure of the late 17th century. He absolutely could not believe that an extraterrestial force would be invading now.

As a fleet of Lightness vessels appeared at the very edge of the Comosol system, "other means" were used by the colony's law enforcement authorities to contact the GA Military for help: unfortunately though, due to the location of Comosol, it would take some time to get a sizeable force there to start evacuations. The local detachments of Gigerdi Alliance Colonial Defense Forces were quickly mobilized and sent forward to stall the invading forces. Luckily, all of this was completely unknown to Thadeus, who just continued to sit around his luxurious castle and complain about the high prices of silk.

The militias were of no threat to the Lightness: thus they were quickly eliminated. As Thadeus was warned one more time about the impending doom, he just laughed at the Inter-Stellar Alliance envoy. As the Lightness reached the main planet, a furious and powerful planetary bombardment followed by one of the few planetary invasions of the whole war ensued.

Thadeus was killed and his entire power structure was left in ruins: the civilians quickly took whatever craft they could find, and fled the scene.
