The Valencia Mk. II is the bigger brother of the Mk. I Valencia. The weaponry of the Mk. II is upgraded, and a few of the Mk.II's have been implemented with an experimental Planet Killer beam weapon, but it is in no means a standard weapon for the design. It also carries the new Ice Javelin class drones in its' drone bays at the aft of the ship. The jump drive is the same as in the Mk. I and the hull is of the same semi-organic design, too. Other notabilities in the design include a newer Anti-Matter reactor than in the Mk. I cruiser, but the central computers are both the same in these designs.
A curious detail of the Mk.II as a design is, that the Mk.II Valencia was manufactured and subsequently seen in service before the Mk. I. This is an odd and unexplained mistake on the designers' part, which has never really received an explanation. After the Lightness War, there were only 6 Valencia Mk.II's constructed, but in the years following the war, an increased amount of Mk.II Valencia's have been constructed. Some could say, that the Mk.II has become one of the backbones of the fleet by now.
For a few years, it was estimated that the Valencia Mk.II would be the replacement for the Gigerdi Mk.III Heavy Cruiser, but since the announcement of the Gigerdi Mk.IV as the official replacement, many optimists in the higher echelons of the GA have been largely disappointed with this turn of events. Still though, the Valencia Mk.II will continue to act as the unofficial backbone of the fleets for a long time, since it will take a long time until the newer cruisers can be brought to the same level as the Valencia Mk. II's in amounts.
