The Water Bat, another IPA made version of the Fire Bat drones developed by the Gigerdi Alliance, has been designed with defense in mind. It's very slow and less maneuverable than that of its counterparts. The IPA uses them to defend borders, planets and certain stations and ships. Although their large size and slow speed makes them easy targets, their design allows them to fight off large amounts of Fire Bats.

The weaponry of the Water Bats is said to vary, and may contain more than 3 particle disruptors. The drones were mostly seen during the Beta Quadrant Conflict and were quite powerful in large groups.
