Captain (Fleet) (GA)

The rank of Captain is a rank above Commander and below Vice-Admiral in the GA Military. The rank of Commander is the sixth highest of the so-called "commanding officer ranks" and also the last. Promotions from this rank forward are referred to as "flag officer duties".

Servicemembers with the rank of Captain usually command a single starship of any size (but usually either cruisers or destroyers), and are also qualified and often have to command a Battle Group of ships at some point in their careers. In order to be promoted to a full Captain, a Commander must pass a demanding tactical & strategical course in the Gigerdi Alliance Military Academy. A fleet captain also always commands only a starship or starships - not orbital stations or outposts. The similarity between the ranks of Captain between the fleet force and the ground forces is also very vague.
