The Confederal destroyer was created during the border disputes between the Gigerdi Federation and the Gigerdi Confederation at the end of the Secession War. The creator of this vessel was a defected gigerdian ship designer named Gerlus Devook, who helped the G-Confed to bring their fleets up to date.
The results of this project were good: one of the them was the Confederal class medium destroyer. It carried a lot of troops and equipment for a planetary invasion, and thus these ships were deployed into the borders in the following years. The ship also had a lot of cargo space for other needful equipment, it also stood its ground against the advanced vessels of the Timocracy.
Power systems
The primary energy source for the ship is a A-59 fusion reactor with a maximum generating output of 3,6 terawatts. Like some of the old GA military ships, the Confederal uses a dry fusion plant. The basic fuel for the plant is a crystalline powder form of lithium hydride (LiH). The basic gravity of the fuel is 0,82 metric tons per cubic meter, making it extremely space efficient. This method also avoids the problems of cryogenic storage associated with civilian reactors fueled by heavy hydrogen isotopes such as Deuterium and Tritium.
Deployment
There were only a handful of Confederals built: In fact, 93 of them were destroyed during the Timocracy War and the rest of them were cleared for service in the GA fleets upon its' formation.
The Free Republic of Hephaestus also acquired one of these vessels during their Hephaestus War of Independence. The Hephaestan government has considerably modified the design, and reports have stated, that the Hephaestan ship designers have started a completely new line of vessels based upon the old Confederal.
