Freedom

Capital city of Tooled Hemmo I, Freedom was formerly known as Unity City before the planet's takeover by the Democratic Hemmoian Republic. It is a major Hemmoian cultural center and the former seat of government of the Independent Hypersentiences. It is currently home to 18 000 000 people.

History

Foundation

The city was initially established under the flag of the United Orcs, its location selected by a Royal Space Administration colonization planning bureau. Located near the initial biosphere colonies, the city was designed as the capital of the world from the start. At this time, it was only known as the Capital City or Tooled Hemmo Alpha.

Independent Hypersentience Era

Upon the foundation of the secessionist Independent Hypersentience state, the Capital City was renamed Unity City. The planetary administration facilities became the seat of government of the Independent Hypersentiences, although they were later replaced by a larger command facility.

Hemmoian Federation Era

As the Hemmoian Federation was founded, the city lost its status as a seat of government.

Civil War

When the Hemmoian Civil War broke out, Unity City saw heavy urban combat between HFed loyalists and Rebellion guerrillas. Although several rebel cells had existed in the city prior to the outbreak of the Civil War, they were unable to seize power and were quickly neutralized by the city's internal security force. Several divisions of the Hemmoian Clone Army were deployed to defend the city as well as a Heavy Mechanized armor division, who held the city with great success for over 32 rotations. Both sides took heavy casualties during this prolonged siege, and civilian deaths reached staggering numbers.

However, as the rest of the planet was won over by rebel forces, and the Rebellion established space superiority in the Tooled Hemmo system, supply lines to the city were cut and the remaining HFed forces were forced to surrender.

Democratic Hemmoian Republic Era

Upon the establishment of the Democratic Hemmoian Republic, the city was renamed Freedom to reflect the ideals of the freshly established state and rebuilding of the heavily damaged infrastructure began.
