Imperial Bacterian Navy
The Imperial Bacterian Navy is the military starfleet of the Bacterian Empire. The Empire covers a vast region of space; a region that must be defended against internal and external enemies. The Imperial Navy carries out that role in the name of the Emperor, and is one of the the most powerful military assets in the Galaxy.

Fleets
The Navy is divided into vast fleets, each containing anywhere from 1000 to 10,000 starships of different types. Each fleet functions independently and is almost completely self-sufficient, each one led by a gargantuan mothership. Fleets are typically commanded by Fleetlords.
Fleet categories
Fleets can be roughly categorized into at least four categories: Expeditionary fleets, serving both an exploratory mission as well as a mission of conquest and colonization; Provincial fleets that guard and pacify acquired regions of the Empire, Elite fleets that have special roles and are directly under the command of the Emperor, and, the most dreaded of all, heavily armed Purification fleets with purely genocidal purposes.
Each provincial fleet is assigned a number of capital ships and multiple squadrons of escorts, and is also in command of a large number of transports, messenger craft, orbital defences, space platforms and system patrol vessels. The ships of a provincial fleet must constantly patrol their domain and fulfill a variety of roles. Because of the vast volume of space that requires policing, a provincial fleet is normally split into detachments consisting of one or two capital ships, accompanied by a squadron of escorts.
Starships can be moved from fleet to another and new fleets can be formed if necessary. A well known example is the Expeditionary Fleet Lost Paradise, turned into the Purification Fleet Holy Fire in the First Bacterian War.
