Wormhole

A wormhole is a rare spatial anomaly resulting in a portal through space, and possibly time. Entering a wormhole is normally impossible; most wormholes’ entrances have the size of a pin needle. Moreover, entry and exit points are often random. Some wormholes are however stable.

Known wormholes

Wormholes within our galaxy

Berlan Wormhole

Located in the Beta Quadrant, Goera system. Appears stable. Under UCP jurisdiction.

Inter-Galactic Gates

Bacterian IGGs

An exotic type of short-period wormhole used by the Bacterians, it appears the Bacterian IGGs are artificially induced by a drive system codenamed the BlackHole Dimensional PropSys. The mechanism behind the system is unclear, although it must involve immense gravimetric forces. These wormholes often collapse immediately after they have been used.

Namguroon Gate

The first IGG to be discovered, the Namguroon Gate was initially found by Hemmoian scientists. It was closer to Gigerdi Alliance territories, however, leading the GA Military to assume control over it. The other end of the wormhole appeared to be in one of the Milky Way's globular clusters, inhabited by the mysterious Namguroon Federation. Due to failed diplomacy, a brief conflict between the GA and the Namguroon flared, but was cut short when the wormhole collapsed.

Andromeda Gate

The Andromeda Gate is the only currently known stable Inter-Galactic Gate, leading to the Andromeda Galaxy. It is owned by the Gigerdi Alliance but the IPA and the Hemmoian Federation have also been allowed to send expeditionary missions through, thanks to a joint agreement.
