This article is a summary of important events in the history of the Hemmoian Federation, founded in 3,161.

Collectivism and the Independence movement

The principle of the Infinite Pyramid model.
Main articles: Collectivism, Independent Hypersentiences

With the development of subspace relays into commonplace technology and the advancement of neural computer interfaces to the point where thoughts and eventually entire minds could be transmitted reliably by artificial means faster than light, a Hemmoian political visionary by the name of Jazek Reevlod theorized entire species could finally be linked into Collectives using the Infinite Pyramid fractal model. This became known as the Grand Unification Theory, outlined in several volumes of political theory published by Reevlod.

As time passed, it became obvious to Reevlod such a form of government could not be established within the framework of the United Orcs; the only alternatives were revolution or secession. Realizing the pointlessness of attempting a full-scale revolution against a firmly established galactic superpower, Reevlod's movement instead focused on a handful of Hemmoian worlds with major collectivist movements that could be persuaded to secede from the union.

Finally in 3,64, the plan was put in motion and a number of star systems declared their independence from the UO, with Tooled Hemmo selected as the new state's seat of government. Taken by surprise, the United Orcs was unable to react to such a radical development and conceeded the secessions, effectively recognizing the Independent Hypersentience government as legitimate. Both sides maintained good relations across the board in the spirit of galactic peace and the benefit of the peoples of the Delta Quadrant, recognizing the potential damage a civil war would cause.

Foundation of the Collective

The Operator Station in high Aldaain orbit was the starting point of the Collective.
Main article: The Collective Network

Among the citizens of the IH, tests began on the development and implementation of an artificial computer-assisted Collective Network where every being merges into a larger whole. The first such network to go operational was PRIMENET, connecting Aldaain and Tooled Hemmo through a subspace link called the Operator Station. The grand social experiment was a success, and the Collective started growing.

Society was reworked extensively, and a number of new organizations were established. These included such protective entities as the Independent Hypersentience Starfleet, the Independent Hypersentience Clone Army and the Independent Hypersentience Inter-Planetary Security Forces, and industrial organizations such as the Independent Hypersentience Industrial Corps.

Collapse of the Union

Main articles: United Orcs, Peace Station Era

After the First Bacterian War, the UO entered a period of slow economic and political stagnation that reached its final stages around the time of the Peace Station Era.

The disbanding of the Union was announced at the end of the Peace Station's first year of operations. With the collapse of the United Orcs in 3,131, the societies of the Delta Quadrant entered an authority vacuum.

Foundation of the Federation

The Third Council of Collective Deputies finally ratified the Constitution of the Hemmoian Federation and established the Great Council, officially disbanding the IH. Ommek 3 Intieter became the first secretary of the Great Council.

As a member of the Third Council, Jazek Reevlod opposed the decision to disband the Independent Hypersentience state and turn it into a Federation, but accepted the majority vote in collectivist tradition. He gradually lost political power in the Great Council and retired from Federation politics around 3,140.

Second Bacterian War

As the Peace Station Project was about to get closed down, and members of the Bakteeri family had once again infiltrated the workings of the Bacterian Government, the Empire's prolonged age of peace was about to end. About a year before the official abandoning of the Peace Station, the Empire had gathered a tremendous attack fleet in secret Imperial Navy installations. This fleet was now ready to be deployed in a full frontal assault against an enemy starpower. The target of choice was the Hemmoian Federation.

As the Bacterian invasion force was suffering losses from the newly assembled IHSF fast-response defensive fleets, the Bacterian strategy changed. They retreated into interstellar space to regroup. As their forces started moving again their intentions became crystal clear - the invasion fleet was heading directly towards Orbeus 6, the location of Aldaain. In a gritty showdown between two superpowers, both sides suffered heavy losses, and the surface of Aldaain was partially bombed to ruins, but the Hemmoians emerged from the conflict as winners.

With their entire attack fleet decimated, the Bacterian Empire was forced to call their campaign against the Federation off when the HFed government threatened to perform a full retaliatory strike on their command world of Bacterius. Once considered an overwhelmingly superior force, the war showed the technological gap between the Bacterians and the rest of the Galaxy was no longer as wide as it used to be.

Daglian Conflict & the Third Bacterian War

Main articles: Daglian Conflict, Third Bacterian War

After the Gigerdian-Bacterian War, the Bacterians declared war against the Hemmoian Federation.

Lightness War

Main article: Lightness War

The invading Great Lightness found its way to the Delta Quadrant. This meant that now both the Bacterian Empire and the Hemmoian Federation would be under attack. The first Hemmoian system to have come under attack by the GL was the Utt'nimkl system, located in the HFed side of the core worlds. This system, like many others, was completely wiped clean of any resistance, despite its large civilian population.

The Great Council was initially unwilling to engage the Lightness, hoping the mysterious invaders would not attack if left unprovoked, but as reports of the high civilian casualties in Utt'nimkl started coming in the IHSF High Command was authorized to strike back with full force.

It became quite clear at this time that the Hemmoian Federation could contribute almost nothing to the ISA defences. Almost 40% of the Hemmoian Federation's fleet assets were destroyed in the opening stages of the GL invasion into the Delta Quadrant and the Gamma Quadrant. This left the Hemmoian Federation and its member states in a state of disarray, but unlike the GA, they were able to recover from it much quicker - and strike back.

In a desperate measure, the Hemmoian Great Council authorised the use of Black Hole Generators aboard the new Black Hole Mk.I class carriers. The Hemmoian Federation scrambled together a massive fleet of ships to do battle against the Lightness, spearheaded by a sub-fleet of four ships. These were the IHSF Annihilator, IHSF Defender B, IHSF Conqueror and IHSF Dismantler.

Rebellion & Civil War

Main articles: The Rebellion, Hemmoian Civil War, Democratic Hemmoian Republic

The Federation entered a period of political stagnation under Hemmo Paskiainen. Political repressions and censorship within the Collective were rife. The Bureau of Wholesomeness was established at this time to rate and delete media content in the network, often based on special override policies from the Great Council's Information Division.

A revolutionary group of hackers called the Rebellion emerged at this time. The group was composed of Hemmoian and Orcish rebels of various anti-collectivist ideologies and led by a secret cabal that included Asmar Karellen and Rashaverak, hackers of the original Operator Station.

In 3,171, the Hemmoian Civil War broke out. The Democratic Hemmoian Republic was a dream given form for the Rebellion, which broke free from the Hemmoian Federation to form their own government, and seven years of civil war did little to sway them from their goal. The Rebellion movement was joined by such aspiring independent system states as the Free Republic of Hephaestus and the Daglian Assembly of Clans. The Riletian Republic also declared independence at this time.

After the Darkening, the Hemmoian Federation was forced to acknowledge DHR as a valid stellar government.
